New recipe alert! Easy Matcha Green Tea Banana Pancakes

I started hearing about matcha green tea a couple of years ago and I must say, I had heard it was healthy, but I didn’t know the exact health benefits behind this magical green tea powder. It was the newest rave so of course I had to give it a good try – and who wouldn’t love a cute green muffin or colorful latte in a chic tea spot? After trying it and enjoying it, I started looking into various recipes that I can make at home. And let me tell you my friends, the possibilities are endless. Add in its huge health benefits – such as its high concentration of antioxidants (giving us all younger-looking skin), cancer-fighting properties and components that help induce relaxation (here’s looking at you, mommy friends), increase metabolism, burn fat, ability to naturally detoxify the body, among many other benefits – and you have yourself a firm believer in matcha.

Ready, Set, Go!

So a little bit about myself…my name is Michelle and I’m a busy wife and mom of two who suddenly decided to turn her life upside down by returning to school for a complete career change after 10 stressful, yet fun, years of working in public relations, representing beauty, fashion and lifestyle brands (in which I owned my own firm for half of those years). Am I crazy? Maybe. But I made the decision to not settle in life for a career that no longer fed my soul. I wanted to set an example for my two daughters, who are at a very impressionable age, and wanted to teach them to go after their dreams, never settle, and the world is theirs to do what they want with it – nothing in life is impossible. With this being said, I’m in nursing school with about seven months to go – and boy, am I counting down those months! Now, as some of you may know, nursing school takes over your life and to go through it with a family and household, it makes you insane at times. Yep! I think I just confirmed to myself that I am crazy, but I also know it’s not impossible. After all, nothing worth having comes easy.

Now, as if my schedule isn’t jam-packed as it is, I decided to start this blog. And why? Because there are a lot of moms just like me, out there trying to balance life, hectic schedules, kids’ activities, maintain a social life, all while attempting to stay HEALTHY. Health and fitness have always been important to me. Lifting weights, going for a jog or simply a brisk walk enjoying nature has always given me clarity when I need it and it’s been my personal way of releasing stress – my therapy.

Now before I go on, let me be clear in stating I am not certified, nor will I call myself an expert. This platform is simply my way of expressing what has worked for me…a busy mom, always on the go, who genuinely enjoys living healthy, all while trying the magical act of balance. I don’t believe in fad diets and I wholeheartedly believe that we should be leading a healthy lifestyle, not just worrying about that little number on the scale. Often times, I get asked how I manage it all or how I find the time to do it. Now, I’m the type to wish that there were more hours in the day (ah yes the dreaded 4:30 a.m. alarm ringing). However, my health, fitness and happiness take priority over many things because after all, if momma isn’t happy, no one is happy in the house.

We’re all different and what works for my lifestyle may not work for others, but I’m here to offer you some tips along the way. I’m here to remind you that you can get a workout in that fits your lifestyle, you can eat that piece of chocolate or have that glass of wine, if that’s what brings you happiness, as long as it’s balanced – and you shouldn’t feel guilty for enjoying the simple things that bring you happiness.

Remember I’m learning about this whole blogging thing, while also studying for tests, going to clinicals, running a household and my most important job of all, being supermom. All your feedback is welcome so please, feel free to comment or reach out with your feedback.
